Corporate Social Responsibility
At Carlisle Managed Solutions we believe that being an excellent business is about more than just having a strong reputation in the market place; it's about having the respect of the community and caring for the environment in which we operate. Recognising this, we have established a program of voluntary work that seeks to deliver a positive impact in our community and on the environment through the implementation of our Community Focus Team. As a business, we have also chosen to support a charity on an annual basis, the first recipient of our time and financial donations being Marie Curie.
Equal Opportunities and Diversity We are committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce regardless of ethnicity, disability, age or religion. We work closely with our clients to achieve their diversity and equal opportunity objectives and to ensure compliance with current legislation. Environment In each CMS office, Green Champions have been appointed to examine all areas within our control such as office waste and energy use and take positive steps to implement methods towards reducing our burden on the environment. This work is being monitored and documented and will be included in an internal environmental management system policy. CMS has also shown commitment to the environment by implementing its on-line timesheet & payslip system across its own business and across that of its clients. This has reduced the amount of paper used and on an average year, this saves 677,976 sheets of paper, 5,831kg of CO2, saving approximately 82 trees. CMS Community Partnerships Carlisle Managed Solutions recognises the impact that its business can have on the wider community and environment and that its obligations go further than statutory requirements. The Community Focus Team organise events throughout the year that provide staff with the opportunity to take time away from the office and work alongside charitable partners. These activities may utilise the recruitment skills of the staff or simply provide support in the community and the environment where it is needed. CMS Charities - Who We Support Marie Curie
In 2008, CMS staff voted for Marie Curie to benefit from our fund raising initiatives over the subsequent 12 months. Marie Curie nurses make a tremendous difference by making it possible for more than 20,000 people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses to be cared for at home by providing free overnight nursing care for patients and emotional support for their families. For those who cannot be cared for at home, Marie Curie Cancer Care has a network of hospices across the UK. The charity also undertakes important research into cancer to try and understand its causes and formulate better treatments. CMS proudly supported Marie Curie through fundraising events such as hosting a charity quiz night, holding a photo competition at the annual Christmas Party and supporting the Marie Curie Blooming Great Tea Party initiative by hosting tea parties on both client sites and in the CMS head office.
Peace Hospice
Following on from the successful partnership with Marie Curie, CMS staff voted to support Watford based Peace Hospice for 2009. Peace Hospice is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary and is run by a team of dedicated clinical, fund-raising and administrative staff. They are supported by an army of some 450 volunteers who work in the Hospice itself and at the 7 hospice shops. The Peace Hospice seeks to provide a centre of excellence offering comprehensive and multi-disciplinary specialist palliative care without charge and without discrimination and aside from supporting those in need, is also committed to supporting and developing its staff and volunteers and making the most effective use of its resources.
Kid's City
CMS currently partner with London based charity Kid's City, wrapping presents for underprivileged children in the Lambeth area prior to Christmas. This partnership has proved to be highly successful and enjoyable for all involved, with gratitude from Kid's City being apparent from the testimonial below:
“I am writing to you to say a very big and heartfelt thank you to the Carlisle team who joined us yesterday. They worked extremely hard yet cheerfully and accomplished a phenomenal amount of present-wrapping; they certainly deserve much praise. On behalf of Kids’ City and all of the children, thank you very much indeed. I am really looking forward to working with the Carlisle team again in the future.” Employment Business Partnerships
Utilising the skills of its staff in the community is important to CMS and has led the organisation to work with a number of schools in Greater London, Brighton, Manchester & Plymouth, providing assistance at career workshops for students aged between 15-18. The workshops typically require volunteers to provide CV & interview technique advice and staff often participate in role plays to help students develop their job searching skills. Feedback on staff participation has been very positive, the benefit of this type of partnership being described below:
“The Central Foundation Boys’ School Presenting Yourself Day was a resounding success. The boys benefited very much from being able to work with two facilitators. Annelise and Irene’s professional expertise supported young people from non-traditional backgrounds to get face-to-face information, advice and guidance from two professionals who give them a real insight into what a City firm is looking for when it is recruiting.”
